Why Design with Amvic ICF?

Amvic products have a variety of characteristics which can improve the quality of the structures that are designed and built daily. Below are lists of the numerous features and benefits that can be reaped.

LEED Certification

The USGBC's LEED Certification program provides a framework for assessing building performance and sustainability based on water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality. Click here for more information on the LEED Rating System.

Amvic ICF can contribute to the LEED certification of a structure. Of the 26 required points for a structure to be LEED certified, Amvic ICF can contribute up to 28! Amvic is the only manufacturer on the market that has a conducted a third party assessment which verifies this in a LEED Assessment Report. Benefits of Using Amvic

Green Building

Presently, energy emissions from residential, industrial, commercial and institutional structures constitute over 20% of the total carbon pie. With an Amvic ICF structures, energy consumption is significantly reduced, which translates to an equivalent reduction in harmful emissions. Another contributing factor to global warming is deforestation, which adds 1 to 2 billion metric tons of carbon to the atmosphere each year. Amvic ICF structures help to reduce deforestation since Amvic structures replace wood framing and which saves several trees. Construction waste is also dramatically decreased to less than 1% with Amvic. This is over 50% less construction waste than other competing ICF. The reduction in waste reduces land filling which produces methane. One ton of methane generates 20 tons of carbon. The polypropylene webs molded into the Amvic forms are made from 100% recycled plastic. Lastly, Amvic manufacturing centers use steam and cold water to produce ICF forms, no chemicals or off-gassing is present.

Design Flexibility

Amvic ICFs have superior engineered spanning capabilities, making them ideal for long insulated window and door lintels, as well as for grade beam applications. They are also extremely flexible in design making curved, square, plumb and straight walls easily obtainable. In addition, exterior and interior wall coverings are easily attached, dramatically improving a structure's appearance.

Construction Versatility

Amvic polypropylene webs are spaced 6 inches on center making the forms simpler to use and easier to cut while reducing waste. A variety of difference openings from simple to intricate architectural building designs; including tall gable ends are all easily achieved. The webs also allow for accurate placement for reinforcing bars (rebar) so that steel stays properly located before and after concrete pours.

Strength

With R20 insulation, 3-hour-plus fire and 50-plus STC ratings, professionals are making the smart choice and choosing high-performing Amvic ICF wall systems. Amvic ICF homes withstand natural disasters such as storms, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes and wild fires much better than traditionally built homes. They also have the highest form capacity strength in the industry. Pours go smoothly without undue risk of wall failure and possible worker injury.
